Commercial Installation Works

We offer a range of commercial electrical contracting services including installation works, maintenance, emergency lighting installations and testing and inspection of commercial premises.

We have vast experience with new commercial installations and have been involved in the refurbishment of countless pubs within Brighton and the surrounding areas over the years.

Emergency Lighting

It is required that all occupied commercial buildings have adequate emergency lighting should the normal lighting fail. We can carry out full design and installation of emergency lighting systems to (BS5266-1:2011) to suite our clients requirements and on completion issue an NICEIC Emergency lighting installation certificate.

We also offer regular testing and inspecting and maintenance of new or existing emergency lighting installations as it is extremely important to maintain emergency lighting installations in case of an emergency.

Electrical installation Condition Reports

An Electrical installation Condition Report is intended for the sole purpose of reporting on the condition of an existing electrical installation whether it be domestic, commercial or industrial. The report should identify, so far as reasonably practicable and having regard to the extent of limitations record any damage, deterioration, defects, dangerous conditions and any non-compliance with the IET Wiring regulations BS7671:2018 for the safety of electrical installation. It should however be noted that the greater the limitations that apply to a report, the less the value of the report will be to its recipient.

Although there is no law at present stating that electrical installation condition reports need to be carried out on any type of installation it is highly recommended to keep the installation safe and compliant with the latest safety standards. Most insurance companies will require commercial premises to have an up-to date Electrical Installation Condition Report, Estate Agents will most likely ask you to produce a Domestic Electrical Installation Condition Report if you are selling your property and the Government is in the process of trying to make it law for all landlords to have an up-to date Domestic Electrical Installation Condition Report for any rental premises.

Recommendations for frequency of carrying out Electrical Installation Condition Reports vary depending on the type of installation and the condition of the installation. For domestic installations it is recommended that they be tested at a maximum of every 10 Years. Most commercial installations are recommended to be tested at a maximum of every 5 Years as are all rental properties. Buildings open to the public e.g. places of entertainment or leisure complexes should be tested at a maximum of every 3 Years. Places identified as special locations e.g. swimming pools, caravan parks and marinas should be tested at a maximum of every 1 Year.

However, these periods may be reduced if the condition of the installation is deemed to be by the engineer testing of an age or condition where more frequent testing is required to ensure continued safety.
